helpful staff, good views, central location
no shower in bathroom, breakfast not included in high price,no coffee making facilities
bar and restaurant were very well appointed. the menu, food and wine list were extremely satisfactory.a most enjoyable evening concert was arranged as a surprise by the hotel for its guests. this topped our stay with a very delightfull experience. the staff was professional and very courteous..
Fantastic view of the lake, outstanding french restaurant and nice style. Staff very friendly and helpful
The rooms could get refreshed...
Location and staff. Restaurant dinner and outlook was great.
The attic rooms aren't 4 star - no hairdryer, only 3 tv stations.
Location was very good and hotel clean and nice gardens
Although this hotel is in an excellent location we felt rooms where very small and although clean, dated. I travelled with my wife and children aged 15 and 21 so we needed two rooms or one large suite. In the end we selected the suite which had two small bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two small single beds and one small lounge area. At 500 Euros a night felt is was overpriced. Also the buffet breakfast was a big let down. Canned fruit, artificial fruit juices, cold meats and some pastries with no hot food. Very ordinary. In the end we ordered some eggs and salmon for breakfast which although very nice cost us 50 euros for two which is a rip off. We tried to check out after the first night and although we expressed our disappointment with the rooms when we checked in they would not let us do so unless we paid the full cost of our accommodation for the rest of our stay. Will never be back again. A big disappointment.
The staff and facilites suited us excellently
Cleanliness; helpful, cheerful and professional demeanor and service of staff; language skillsof staff; management; views. Some reviews said words which led us to think the hotel may have been in need of renovation. These comments were misleading - the hotel is stylish and reminiscent of a nostalgic era.Food was top quality. Pool was delightfully relaxing on a hot day.
The hotel occupies a quiet position with lovely outlook over Lake Como. The reception was very welcoming on arrival.
Breakfasts were very average for a 4 star hotel. I would expect hot food as well as buffet. I did not expect a charge of 3 euro for a half hour use of internet.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was wonderful - especially the crepe suzette - cooked right in front of you. Room was very comfortable and the location of the hotel is amazing - right opposite the lake. Excellent hotel.
The location was magnificent and our room had a small balcony with a wonderful view over Lake Como. The hotel also has a pool which catches the afternoon sun for a late afternoon dip after exploring the area.
For our tastes the breakfast was a little disappointing at the hotel but a short stroll along the lakeside promenade were several cafe's that served fresh juice, croissants and coffee.
the lake view, free parking
overpriced restaurant, absence of internet in the rooms, rahter small room size, continuous noise in the bathroom
Beautiful location, very private and well situated, overlooking Lake Como. Will definitely go back again, really enjoyed it.
Location and convenience to Menaggio and Lake Como. Nice comfortable hotel.
Hotel was great - no problems. Nearby church bells were a little annoying early on a Sunday morning
The hotel is ideally located on the quiet lakeside road in Menaggio and is just a short walk from the main square. It is set in its own grounds with adequate private parking. It is an ideal location to explore the Central Lakes area, with the ferry terminal a ten- to fifteen-minute walk away. This hotel sets itself apart from many by offering genuine, excellent service to customers. It also (unusually) remains open throughout the year whilst most other local hotels close over winter. It has a traditional style in both setting and service and provides a comforting, calm ambience to guests and visitors. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, offering local knowledge and assistance on a variety of subjects. It attracts a well-deserved four-star rating and is priced accordingly; it is certainly highly recommended.
There is very little scope for criticism without being hyper-critical. The only suggestions would be to improve the wi-fi Internet coverage to the rooms and provide in-room hot-drinks facilities.
Close access to the ferries made visiting other cities easier. Traveling with my young daughter for our first solo father-daughter trip, and having such a helpful staff (i.e. answering questions, providing us with warm milk, etc.) made our stay that much more pleasant. View of the lake, alps, and opposing city from our first floor room was memorable. Hearing the sounds of the lake, with our windows open, from our room was peaceful.
The TV and available stations were disappointing for a "recently renovated" hotel, compared to other, less expensive hotels I viewed. Website states wi-fi available, but was informed by Hotel staff, only in lobby. Was able to access the internet from first floor room with poor signal... But who wants to be in the room in Lake Como... not gripes that would prevent me from returning.
